The Kazakh and Chinese railway workers had agreed in Almaty to increase the volume of freight traffic in 2017
Through the Kazakh-Chinese railway crossings Dostyk-Alashankou and Altynkol-Khorgos in 2017 it is planned to increase the volume of transit and import and export of goods by 33%.
Kazakhstan and China mutual turnover in the current year will increase to 10 million 990 thousand tonnes, with Kazakhstan's exports amounted to 5.59 million tons, the import and transit from China is expected to reach 5.4 million tons.
This was discussed at the meeting of the subgroup of the Railways of Kazakhstan and China within the framework of the Organization for cooperation of Railways (OSJD) which was held in Almaty from 27 February to 3 March.
The Chairman of OSJD Committee of cargo transportation Z.Aspaeva stressed the importance of discussion to determine the amount of transported goods, the development of the transit and export-import potential of all members of the OSJD.
The meeting in Almaty was attended by representatives of Railways and foreign trade organizations of Kazakhstan, Vietnam, China, Mongolia, Russia, and DPRK.
The next meeting of the OSJD is to be held in March 2018 in Pyongyang.
