Transit through the TITR Increases 20-Fold

The management of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) met with the Governor of Shaanxi Province, Mr. Jiao Gang, in Xi’an, People’s Republic of China, during the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) Forum.

Shaanxi is one of China’s largest provinces, with a population exceeding 40 million and a GDP of more than 470 billion USD. The Kazakh-Chinese terminal, located in the dry port of Xi’an, was built in this province.

Today, 30% of container trains to Europe via Kazakhstan are formed in this dry port, while 40% of the port’s imported cargo comes from Kazakhstan. Thanks to the use of KTZ’s terminal facilities in Xi’an, transit along the TITR route has grown 20-fold in the past eight months compared to the previous year. Delivery times have been reduced to 11 days to Azerbaijan and 14 days to Georgia.

The meeting also focused on two joint projects with the dry port: the construction of a new logistics center in Almaty and the CRK Terminal logistics center at Selyatino station in the Moscow region, Russian Federation. Additionally, prospects for infrastructure development along the TITR route, including in Europe, were discussed.

Both parties emphasized that cooperation within the framework of China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative not only promotes the development of transit transportation and strengthens economic ties but also creates significant strategic advantages for both countries.
