KTZ Express in EuroNews Interview: Developing the Aktau Hub, Logistics Digitalization, and Strategy for the Trans-Caspian Route

📅 July 16, 2025

The CEO of KTZ Express, Mr. D.M. Kozhakhmetov, spoke to EuroNews as part of a special feature on Kazakhstan's growing role in developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), linking China and Europe via the Caspian Sea, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.

The Port of Aktau is emerging as a key link in the modernized logistics chain being implemented under Kazakhstan’s national infrastructure development program. A new container hub, developed with the participation of KTZ Express, is set to become the largest on the Caspian Sea. With a projected capacity of 240,000 TEU per year, it will significantly boost freight traffic between China and Europe.

In the interview, Mr. Kozhakhmetov emphasized the importance of integrating advanced technological solutions. The company is actively deploying an automated terminal management system, using state-of-the-art ZPMC cranes, and expanding its Tez Customs digital platform, which has successfully reduced customs clearance times from 8 hours to just 30 minutes. This innovation has already proven effective at border checkpoints and is a major milestone in the digital transformation of transit logistics.

KTZ Express is also planning to expand its multimodal infrastructure along the route by constructing new terminals in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Hungary. This will ensure a seamless freight service from China to Europe and aligns with the EU’s goal to reduce total transit time to 15 days.
