A strategic memorandum of understanding was signed between JSC «NC» KTZ» and COSCO Shipping
On May 15 this year, within the framework of the XII Astana Economic Forum in Nur Sultan, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC «Kazakhstan Temir Zholy» Sauat Mynbayev and the Chairman of the Management Board of China Cosco Shipping Corporation Limited Xu Lirong.
During the negotiations, issues of expanding cooperation in the field of transport and logistics were discussed. «For the successful cooperation in the future, all the necessary conditions are created. You are very important partners for us. Now we would like to work more actively together to simplify and improve the delivery of goods to destinations,» Sauat Mynbaev emphasized. Xu Lirong also noted the high potential for cooperation and the effectiveness of joint work aimed at developing transport and logistics infrastructure, transcontinental freight transportation routes.
Parties agreed to continue joint active work to create favorable conditions for increasing the volume of cargo transportation, developing container services along the route China - Europe - China, which runs through the territory of Kazakhstan. In the four months of 2019, the volume of container traffic between China and Europe through Kazakhstan amounted to 93.2 thousand TEUs, which is 40% higher than the same indicator in 2018. Successful cooperation in the development of a joint venture with COSCO Shipping and the port of Lianyungang on the Khorgos Gateway Dry Port was noted as a strategic partnership that allows integrating into global logistics chains, attracting additional container flows, developing transcontinental transportations using the Kazakhstan transport and logistics infrastructure. At the meeting, the Kazakh side informed the Chinese delegation about the organization of container transportation by feeder vessels across the Caspian Sea.
Following the meeting, a Strategic Memorandum of Understanding was signed between JSC «NC» Kazakhstan Temir Zholy» and China Cosco Shipping Corporation Limited.
