November 29 to December 1, 2023, the city of Budapest hosted the "European Silk Road Summit". The event provided a platform to discuss strategies to strengthen trade links between European countries and countries along the Silk road.
The summit highlighted approaches to the development of transport corridors and economic cooperation to strengthen interaction.
The report "From Kazakhstan to Europe - a close look at the Middle corridor" by Aibek Kapar, which provided information on the opportunities and bottlenecks of Kazakhstan's transportation infrastructure, attracted great interest to the participants.
"Kazakhstan is a key participant of the old and new Silk road. Given the dynamic changes in the world, the development of the transport and logistics sector is becoming a strategic necessity for our economy", emphasized Aibek Kapar.
It should be noted that in 2022 the volume of freight traffic on Trans-Caspian International Transport Route increased 2.5 times and reached 1.5 million tons, for 10 months of 2023 the growth was 97.7% (compared to the same period of 2022) with the volume of freight traffic - 2.3 million tons.
“European Silk Road Summit” is the largest event dedicated to the New Silk road in Europe, annually gathering more than 300 leading experts, entrepreneurs, representatives of state and quasi-state structures in the field of rail freight transportation.
