Kazakhstan-Serbia Business Forum Explores Projects within the TITR Framework

On October 12, 2024, the Kazakhstan-Serbia Business Forum took place in Belgrade, where representatives from both countries discussed the potential for collaborative projects and strategic initiatives.

KTZ Express Deputy General Director of Commerce, U.A. Orazov, highlighted key initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).

“To reinforce Kazakhstan’s role within the global transport network and establish a seamless logistics chain across the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, we are actively developing a network of terminals at key points for cargo collection and distribution. Currently, the KTZ group, in partnership with Chinese stakeholders, has commenced construction on a container hub at Aktau port and is progressing with the GTS-21 joint terminal project in Almaty.

We also recognize the importance of establishing a terminal network within the European segment of the Middle Corridor. In line with this vision, we are planning expansions at the ports of Alat, Constanta, and Budapest. These initiatives will strengthen freight transit capacity and enable a comprehensive ‘door-to-door’ logistics service throughout the entire route,” Orazov stated.

Notably, container shipments along the TITR reached 46,300 TEUs in the first ten months of 2024, a 2.6-fold increase compared to the same period in 2023. This includes 27,600 TEUs originating from China—an impressive 26-fold increase over last year’s figures.

These transport metrics highlight the strategic importance of the TITR, which supports reliable East-West connectivity, thereby driving growth in trade and investment.
