KTZ Express Strengthens Cooperation with Pakistan in Developing the Trans-Afghan Corridor
From 4 to 8 February, 2025, the General Director (Chairman of the Management Board) of JSC KTZ Express, D.M. Kozhakhmetov, paid a working visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, where he held a series of meetings with the leadership of the country’s largest transport and logistics companies, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Commerce.
The key topic of discussion was the development of the Trans-Afghan Corridor, which creates new opportunities for exporting goods to the South Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
In particular, meetings with National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and Tranzum Courier Service (TCS) focused on potential cooperation in cargo transportation optimization and the development of logistics solutions utilizing terminal and port infrastructure. Discussions with the Ministry of Commerce of Pakistan centered on measures to simplify logistics processes and eliminate barriers, aiming to enhance the efficiency and attractiveness of transit routes through Pakistan.
Special attention was given to transport infrastructure in the port area—the terminal capacities of Karachi Port were assessed, and negotiations were held with port terminal owners on expanding KTZ Express’ presence in the region as part of the broader strategy to establish a terminal network within the North-South International Transport Corridor (ITC).
"We see great potential for strengthening cooperation with Pakistan in logistics," said D.M. Kozhakhmetov. "Trade turnover between our countries exceeds $50 million, and through joint efforts, we can reinforce trade and economic ties, enhance the route’s competitiveness, and solidify Kazakhstan’s position as a key transit hub."
It is worth recalling that in 2024, the first shipment along the Trans-Afghan Corridor was successfully completed, delivering cargo from Kazakhstan to the UAE via Karachi Port, with a total transit time of 38 days.
